Hello from the ideaShell team!
I am a designer, and a famously slow typist. I kept finding that I simply could not get my ideas down by typing — the keyboard never keeps up with the mind. So I wrote a lot of notes by hand on an iPad, even though an iPad is big and not always convenient. Last year, ChatGPT made me rethink how notes could work: what if you just spoke them? That shift reignited an idea I had had for a long time, and I started designing this app.
ideaShell, a tool for thinking and remembering
Traditional note and idea apps stop at capture. They behave like external storage — a pile of bits that cannot grow. Next to pen and paper they search better and travel lighter, but they are not a different kind of thing. With AI we can now help people capture faster and think better: from an idea journal, to thinking, to action, and eventually into a second brain that supports personal growth.
On ideas
A good idea is always fleeting.
Ideas arrive at random and in bursts, and they are missed all the time because typing is fiddly and slow. So we chose voice as the way in, paired with the fastest routes your device already offers — Siri, Shortcuts, the Action button. What you say then goes through AI: it gets structured, the key points are pulled out, the filler of speech is stripped away, and what comes back is a note that is actually easy to read. (You can still type, of course.)
A good idea should never sit still.
A good idea is usually just an opening. From what you captured, you can talk it through with an AI that is knowledgeable and quick — asking, arguing, being nudged somewhere you had not looked — until the idea is fuller and you have thought about it from more than one angle.

The real value of a note is not that it sits on a page — it is the growth and the action that follow. With Smart Cards, AI turns your idea into something you can act on: a travel plan, a speech, a checklist. ideaShell is not trying to be an all-in-one product; it would rather connect. Through automation and APIs, what you capture flows into the apps and workflows you already use.
Where we are heading
Catch every idea. We capture in the fastest way we can, encourage reflection to continue, and turn it into action — the way a grain of sand inside a shell is polished into a pearl. Every idea deserves to become one. That is where the name ideaShell comes from.
Everything starts from a Dot. Looking ahead, ideaShell is not only about catching ideas but about growing them into plans, reflections and action. The updates coming next will make capture more direct and your exchanges with AI more natural.
